Can’t fault the Patriots for running it up, but maybe the Jets will find some pride under head coach Robert Saleh...eventually?
28. Atlanta Falcons (+1)
This is a bad team with a bad and overpriced quarterback.
27. New York Giants (-1)
This is a bad team with a bad and fairly paid quarterback.
26. Minnesota Vikings (-2)
This is a ba...OK, won’t over use that joke, and kudos for going toe-to-toe with a much better Arizona Cardinals team.
25. Philadelphia Eagles (+2)
I’m legit more impressed with their loss against the 49ers than their thrashing of the Falcons in Week 1.
24. Cincinnati Bengals (-5)
In many ways, quarterback Joe Burrow is still a rookie. He looked the part in Week 2.
24. Chicago Bears (+2)
Bears fans got their wish as rookie QB Justin Fields took the field for an injured Andy Dalton. Then, he looked terrible.
22. Denver Broncos (+1)
I’ve been saying this is a great team with a mediocre QB, but Teddy Bridgewater is sixth in the NFL in passer rating, 10th in yards per attempt and second in QBR.
21. Indianapolis Colts (-5)
Carson Wentz, meanwhile, is needing to step up his game to…*ahem* Bridgewater levels.
20. Carolina Panthers (+1)
Meanwhile, Sam Darnold is 16th in passer rating, 12th in YPA and sixth in QBR. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills.
19. Las Vegas Raiders (+6)
I still don’t want to believe the Raiders are real, but man do they look like an underrated defense with one of the league’s most balanced offenses behind a legitimately great offensive line. Upcoming games against the Dolphins and the Chargers might put them in the Top 10 or back into the mid-20s.
18. New England Patriots ( - )
You’re not going to have rookie quarterbacks every week. Both sides of the ball need to step it up if they’re going to compete with...you know, actual NFL teams.
17. Washington Football Team ( - )
I picked the Giants against WFT in Week 2 against my better judgement. Not only did the defense show out like I expected they might, Taylor Heinicke looked solid.
16. Miami Dolphins (-1)
There’s a real good chance this ranking is falling a lot further in future weeks. There’s a reason this team wanted Texans QB Deshaun Watson in the offseason and now Tua Tagovailoa is injured. Raiders, Colts and Buccaneers might have this team thinking about a No. 1 draft pick.
15. Tennessee Titans (+5)
Going toe-to-toe with the Seahawks was great and all, but remembering you have running back Derrick Henry on your offense? Priceless.
14. Los Angeles Chargers ( - )
This is a young, talented team that needs to learn to put it all together when they go up against other quality teams.
13. Dallas Cowboys ( - )
The offense wasn’t nearly as dynamic against the Chargers in Week 2, and that’s to be expected. Eventually, we need to see the rushing attack truly unleashed, though.
12. Pittsburgh Steelers ( - )
Well, this team clearly needs linebacker T.J. Watt in their lineup or just about everything goes to pot.
11. New Orleans Saints (-3)
The Panthers said they wanted to attack Saints QB Jameis Winston, but the Saints inability (or lack of desire) to run the ball probably did him even more damage.
10. Cleveland Browns ( - )
I begged the Browns to just finish a game in last week’s power rankings. They didn’t listen and let the Texans hang around way closer than talent levels would indicate.
9. Arizona Cardinals (+2)
QB Kyler Murray might be a darkhorse for MVP if he keeps this up...
8. Baltimore Ravens (+1)
Then again, Murray has Ravens QB Lamar Jackson doing other impressive things and this former MVP just took down the Chiefs.
7. San Francisco 49ers ( - )
Eventually, this great roster on paper has to play like it on the field.
6. Los Angeles Rams ( - )
The Colts gave their best, but the Rams are just that much more talented. QB Matthew Stafford didn’t play his best game, but came through when it counted.
5. Green Bay Packers ( - )
Post halftime of Monday Night Football, it was very clear that the Packers are back. Now, can they sustain it?
4. Seattle Seahawks (-1)
Nothing too egregious about losing in overtime to a team like Tennessee, but the defense now has a lot to prove in future weeks after giving up good overall numbers both rushing and receiving to running backs from Tennessee and Indianapolis.
3. Buffalo Bills (+1)
That’s the Bills offense (and defense) we’ve been expecting.
2. Kansas City Chiefs ( - )
Of course I’m not dropping the Chiefs after going toe to toe with and barely losing to another Top 10 team. That said, QB Patrick Mahomes and Co. look mortal all of a sudden.
