Now let’s get to the Super Bowl 59 pick!

Kansas City vs. Philadelphia

Kansas City’s formula for success over the years has been Patrick Mahomes leading a powerhouse offense to post high point totals and the Chiefs defense preventing games from turning into shootouts. That latter element way key because it used to be that the Chiefs did not fare well in shootout games (defined as contests where both teams score 24+ points).

The Kansas City offense hasn’t been at quite the same level this season as it was in past years, so it may seem that is not the formula this year, but the reality is it still is the way this team wins. The Chiefs have scored 26 or more points in ten of their 18 meaningful games and tallied fewer than 21 points in only four meaningful games. This club has also fared quite well in shootouts, going 4-0 in those types of contests (including the 32-29 win over Buffalo in the AFC Championship).
